ADAD Training: Confidentiality 42 CFR

Certificate: 6 hours ADAD approved.

Learning Objectives:
The purpose of this training is to update the laws pertaining to confidentiality, privacy, and privileged communication.  Participants will gain an understanding of the ethical implications and exceptions to maintaining confidentiality, to include a better understanding on the updated information regarding the 42 CFR Part 2.

Facilitator:
Dr. Isaiah Moreno is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist, and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor in Hawaii. He has been providing therapeutic and substance abuse services for nearly 13 years and has been working with individuals, couples, and families dealing with a wide range of mental health issues. He is currently working in a cultural and community-based group-practice called Ho'okō, LLC, and has worked at various substance use facilities, community mental health centers, and was the previous Chief Psychologist at the Oahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC). In addition, Dr. Moreno has been educating and training counselors as a past faculty member of Argosy University. As an ADAD trainer, he has been providing ethics and substance use training to counselors in the community, and in assisting the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) with their annual Crisis Intervention Training. Dr. Moreno takes an experiential/emotion-focused approach to helping individuals and couples explore parts of themselves that contribute to further self-acceptance and freedom in their current challenges.

Target Audience:
Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC), and other ADAD professional credential (CCJP, CSAPA, CCS).

ADAD Training: Relapse Prevention
The purpose of this course is to provide relapse prevention tools for substance abuse counselors and mental health providers. Participants will identify potential risk factors, gain a basic understanding of developing relapse prevention plans, and evaluate effectiveness of relapse prevention strategies.

ADAD Training: Self-Care Practices for Mental Health Professional
The importance of self-care for professionals entails continuously "looking after your own mental health and wellbeing so that you can more effectively support the young people you work with". Participants will be able to discuss the importance of self-care and impact - both positive and negative. Participants will also learn new skills to decrease burnout and stress-related illness, become more effective in the workplace. Also, apply these skills to everyday practice.

ADAD Training: Group Therapy

Participants will be able to: 1. Have a strong understating of the different types of groups available for treatment and post-treatment settings. 2. Confidently understand the levels of care and be familiar with the assessment criteria.  3 Identify group dynamics and facilitate group discussions in a creative way that helps all members feel included and validated.

ADAD Training: HIV, Hepatitis, & STIs 101

Upon attending this training, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the transmission routes and prevention methods for viral hepatitis, HIV, and STDs.
2. List components of an effective risk assessment for sexually transmitted and other communicable disease.
3 Demonstrate risk reduction counseling techniques for people living with and at-risk for viral hepatitis, HIV, and STDs.
