Overview:
Content: Participants will be able to use each game to conduct an experiential process group using the process topics provided, along with the American Society of Addictions Medicine (ASAM) dimensions, and the 12 core functions. Each game is designed to fit one or more of the six dimensions, as well as the Stages of Change model originally developed by James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente. The facilitator developed this curriculum after seeing a need for adolescents to engage in treatment. However, this program which was developed for teens and children, can easily be used for adults. It allows each participant to engage in treatment using right hemisphere of brain. It allows them to be in a more unstructured playful environment.
Facilitator:
Anthony Mendez, a State Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, has been doing treatment in Hawaii since 2008. He's worked at Queen's Medical Center, Bobby Benson and Child & Family Services.
Target Audience:
Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC), Certified Prevention Specialists (CPS), and applicants; those with other ADAD professional credentials; and anyone involved in the human services field.
