Annual Maui County Substance Misuse Prevention Planning Meeting

Note: Attendees will receive an email notification on the building and room assignment. The event will include a working lunch time, and lunch will be provided.
Cost: Free
Certificate: 4 continuing education hours (CE) for Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC), pending ADAD approval.

Learning Objectives:
  • The meeting seeks attendance by substance misuse prevention providers and stakeholders to assist in developing the year-long plan for Maui County's Substance Misuse Prevention System.
  • The planning meeting will cover the following focus areas: identifying prevention-specific trainings for this year, identifying other workforce development needs (e.g. increasing Certified Prevention Specialists), creating opportunities for cross-collaboration amongst providers, and providing technical assistance to providers as it relates to obtaining CPS certification.
  • The meeting will provide opportunities for providers to discuss these focus areas in detail, identify current needs within the County, and create a plan to address the identified needs over the next year.
Target Audience:
Substance misuse prevention providers, in-school and after-school prevention programs, youth center staff, school personnel addressing substance misuse issues, community coalition members addressing substance issues, school resource officers, and other youth-serving organizations with a stake in substance misuse prevention.
This is a county-wide meeting, and individuals from Moloka'i, Lana'i, and Hana areas are encouraged to attend. There are travel scholarships available for individuals traveling from these areas.
