Evaluation 101: The Whys, Whats, and Hows to Evaluating Your Program

Description: Organizations are continuously faced with the challenge of doing many things on a shoestring budget. As a result, evaluation can be overlooked or fall in priority rankings; however, there is a lot organizations can do! Evaluation evolves throughout the lifetime of an organization. As such, this interactive session will allow participants to better understand program evaluation and how they can evaluate their own programs more effectively. Targeting organizations doing individual programming, this session will allow participants to experience a guided exercise intended to teach participants how to use Microsoft Excel to assist in program evaluation.

Facilitator: A retired substance use prevention coalition director, Stephanie Strutner, MPH owns and operates an independent consulting firm, Catalyst Evaluation Group, through which she provides support to clients through measuring impact and conducting biostatistical and epidemiological analyses. She also serves as consultant and trainer for a number of agencies and serves as the part-time CEO for the Prevention Alliance of Tennessee.

Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Emory & Henry College, a Master of Public Health degree in Health Policy and Management from the University of Tennessee with a focus and field practice in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, a Certificate in Social Enterprise Effectiveness from the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, and is a Level II Certified Prevention Specialist.

Target Audience: The target audience for this training is Maui County prevention and treatment providers and stakeholders who delivery programs to individuals, families, and groups. This training is a virtual training that will take place over the Zoom. Participants must have access to audio and video capabilities on the Zoom platform in order to fully participate in the program and receive continuing education credits.
