TRI-ISLE PREVENTION NETWORK MEETING: ENGAGING YOUTH IN PREVENTION PROGRAMS

Overview:
Prevention providers will learn how to engage youth in components of the Strategic Prevention Framework (i.e. assessment, capacity buiding, planning, implementation, and evaluation), and learn new ways to empower youth through the process. The training will also explore topics such as peer mentoring, youth coalitions, and in-school and after-school prevention programs. There will also be time for networking and learning about other programs occurring in the community.
Facilitator:
The training will be provided by Brenda Armstrong. Brenda is a Coalition Director for an anit-drug coalition in Santa Cruz, CA. Brenda's specialty is in youth engagement and youth empowerment. Brenda has helped develop youth empowerment programs across the country. Her passion is in providing opportunities for youth to build skills, knowledge, and confidence to make positive change on substance use issues affecting their communities.
